After completion of this course you can register as RYT 200 in yoga alliance. 

This gives you the possibility to teach at an international level.

The Heartfulness Wellness Yoga 200 hours to deepen your knowledge and practice of  Yoga asanas in tune with Krishnamacharya style. 

Trained in the Krishnamacharya’s style, Viji Vasu learnt directly from Shri TKV Desikachar, son and disciple of Shri Krishnamacharya. More importantly, Viji has been a practitioner of Heartfulness for 26 years and a Meditation trainer for the last seven years. This course will combine the Krishnamacharya approach to Yoga with Heartfulness practices to make for a unique program.

Viji Vasu has been a trainer of Yoga with a span of 35 years devoted to the art of Yoga instruction. Viji's distinctive approach lies in skillfully steering practitioners through the intricate asanas of Ashtanga Yoga, harmoniously integrating a holistic perspective that naturally guides towards a path of meditation. What truly distinguishes Viji's methodology is its personalized nature, finely attuned to the unique needs of each individual. This results in a practice that not only nurtures physical well-being but also attends to the distinct requirements of every participant with utmost consideration.

The course is certified by the Yoga Alliance (RYS200).

Located on the outskirts of Hyderabad, Telangana, Kanha Shanti Vanam is the world headquarters of the Heartfulness Institute. The ashram is an ecological paradise, a place for spiritual retreat, where you can experience simple living in-tune with inner and outer nature. Kanha Shanti Vanam offers spiritual training along with interactive programs that promote overall wellness and opportunity to learn and contribute. In 2019, Kanha was awarded ‘The Pride of Telangana’, for inner wellness, by Round Table India & Times of India. The center also received the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) Platinum award in 2019 for following world class environment friendly practices becoming the first meditation center in the world to achieve the feat.

Viji Vasu

Viji Vasus, BEd, MEd, Diploma in Yoga (KYM), CYT, E-RYT 500 was teaching at a prestigeous school in Chennai, India for 14 years before completing her Diploma in Yoga from the Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram (KYM) where she worked as a senior Yoga Therapist and Yoga Teacher for 13 years. Viji had the great honour of studying directly under Sri T.K.V. Desikachar during that time.

Viji Vasu and D.V. Sridhar went on to co-found Yoga Raksanam in 2002. In addition to delivering private Yoga Therapy and classical Yoga group classes, she taught in Yoga Raksanam's Yoga Teacher Training Diploma. She specialized in the art of Viñyāsa Krāma (sequencing) as well as analyzing classical postures versus their modification for therapeutic purposes. Viji is also very adept in her knowledge and practice of Meditation and the Bhagavad Gita.

  • What teaching styles and methodologies will be covered during the training?

    The course explores the teaching style of Tirumalai Krishnamacharya. He, often regarded as the "Father of Modern Yoga," was a renowned Indian yoga teacher and scholar. He played a pivotal role in reviving and popularizing the ancient practice of yoga and developed the Vinyasa style, influencing the way yoga is taught and practiced worldwide.

  • What topics are covered in the curriculum?

    The curriculum includes foundational teachings in yoga, meditation, yoga sutras chanting, anatomy, physiology, philosophy, ethics, teaching methodology, and practical teaching experience. You will learn many variations of asanas and pranayama to adopt the practice to individual needs.

  • What is the duration and structure of the 200-hour Wellness Teacher Training Course?

    This course includes 2 onsite retreats of 7 days each. One from October 21-28 2023 and the second from March 23-30 2024. From November to March you will have daily live yoga every weekday and 16 3 hour webinars every alternative Saturdays.

  • Will I be reimbursed if I do not attend the course?

    Once fee is paid we will not be able to reimburse it. But, you have the possibility to attend the next batch of the same course without penalty.

  • How much time is required for self-study and assignments outside of the class hours?

    Participants should expect to spend additional hours outside of class for self-study, practice teaching, and completing assignments. You will have to spend 1-2 hours per week.

  • What is the criterion for certification?

    You have to attend both the retreats in October and March. Apart from this you also need to attend 80 percent of the Daily Yoga classes and all the webinars during the online modules to be eligible for certification.

  • Are there any opportunities for practical teaching experience during the course?

    This courses includes opportunities for students to practice teaching under the guidance of Viji Vasu, providing valuable hands-on experience.
